"Peace in the Seventh"This is my latest titanium sculpture titled "Peace in the Seventh". The dove has arrived with olive branch in claw and He is to overshadow the earth. With all the talk of war in the news I took the opportunity to focus on the contrary thing...peace. Like many of my works, there is symbology needing to be explained in this piece. The pedestal base is seven sided and each side represents one thousand years of time. The earth is depicted in hollow spherical frame because it is to be filled with the knowledge of God. No continents are shown because they have always stood for division and strife among different cultures. The dove is the obvious biblical symbol for the Holy Spirit. He is perched on top of the whole earth to bring the dominion of His peace to a formerly sin filled, violent planet. There are nine major feathers apparent on each wing. One set of nine represents the "fruit" of the Holy Spirit which are listed in the scriptures (love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control). The other nine represent the "gifts" of the Holy Spirit also from scripture in 1 Corinthians chapter 12. The prophetical message of the piece is that when Jesus Christ returns to rule the Earth for the seventh millenium there will be absolute peace for the first time since the garden of Eden. Seven has always been the number that stood for perfection, completion, and rest. In the days of creation, God rested in the seventh day. In the seventh millenium, (soon coming according to the Hebrew calendar) the earth will finally experience peace and rest hence the title of this work "peace in the seventh".
